The leadership of the Institute for Stewardship and Philanthropy at Michigan State University consists of the Institute's founders, Robert A. Esperti and Renno L. Peterson, as well as prominent estate planning attorneys, and staff and faculty of Michigan State University.

The Board of Trustees consists of Robert A. Esperti JD; Renno L. Peterson JD; David K. Cahoone JD; Hiram E. Fitzgerald Ph.D.; Vice Provost; Robert Duncan Ph.D. Dean of the Eli Broad College of Business; Paul Hunt Ph.D., Associate Vice President for Research; and David A. Gift Ph.D., Vice Provost. Lou Anna Simon Ph.D., President of MSU, serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
