EWSI Accreditation Procedure

The Estate & Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University serves as an accrediting body for multidisciplinary educational courses offered by continuing education providers for accountants, attorneys, trust officers, planned giving officers, and laypersons in financial services, insurance, philanthropy, and other estate and financial planning professions.

Based on the Institute's Evaluation Protocol and Standards for Accreditation, accreditation of courses assure professionals and the public that the courses are:

  • current in content
  • technically accurate
  • taught by qualified instructors

In addition, such courses may be part of an envisioned certification program estate and philanthropic practice.

Accreditation Fees

For each course submitted for accreditation, The Institute charges a nonrefundable Accreditation Application Fee of $250 to review the application and determine its eligibility for accreditation. The applicant will be notified within 10 business days if The Institute will accept the course for evaluation.

If The Institute accepts the course for evaluation, it will contact the applicant as to the amount of accreditation fee. The accreditation fee generally varies from $200 to $5,000, based on the following criteria:

  • volume of materials
  • length of course
  • level of expertise of accreditor(s)
  • estimated time necessary for accreditor(s) to evaluate the course materials.
